AudioNUT :: Features
AudioNUT supports a whole pile of features, here is the complete list.

AudioNUT is a powerful, yet simple audio player coded in Visual Basic 6. Using the BASS libraries, AudioNUT can play a variety of file formats. AudioNUT is an open source project, meaning you can download and modify it yourself.

Supported Audio Files
  • MPEG 1/2 Audio (MP1, MP2, MP3)
  • Ogg Vorbis (OGG)
  • WMA and WMA Lossless (Requires Windows Media Runtimes - Included with Windows Media Player 9+)
  • WAV, AIFF (WAV, WAVE, AIF, AIFF)
  • Musepack (MPC, MP+)
  • FLAC (FLAC, FLA)
  • MPEG 4 Audio (MP4, M4A, AAC)
  • Apple Lossless (ALAC, M4A)

  • This means continuously mixed albums (Pink Floyd, Tool) and live albums will have no gaps between the tracks.
Multi-User Support
  • AudioNUT stores playlists, media databases and configuration settings for each user profile in Windows.
  • Settings/Playlist/Media Database stored in 'My Documents\AudioNUT'
Ultra Low System Requirements
A large portion of AudioNUT was designed and coded on an old Pentium 200, so it'll probably run fine on almost anything.

The basic requirements for MP3/OGG/MPC/FLAC/WMA/WAV/CD playback are:
  • CPU: Pentium 200*
  • Memory: Depends on the OS and number of files in playlist/library. The program itself uses around 8-16MB RAM
  • OS (Lite): Windows 95/98/2000/XP/Vista/Vista x64/2008/2008 x64
  • OS (Full): Windows 98/2000/XP/Vista
  • DirectX: DirectX 8 (Windows 95) / DirectX 9 (Others)
  • Other: Soundcard, 800x600 32 Bit Display
*AAC, APE, OptimFROG and Apple Lossless playback and the Equaliser will require a more powerful CPU.

Media Library
  • Browse all your artists, albums and songs in the Media Library.
  • Build playlists using the library by double-clicking the album or song(s) you want to add.
  • Load and save libraries.
Powerful Batch Encoder
  • Inbuilt WAV-Writing
  • Supports most stdin capable encoders (LAME, OGGENC, FAAC, FLAC, etc).
  • Supports non-stdin capable encoders (iTunesEncode, AACEnc32, etc).
  • Supports encoder tag switches.
  • Built-in support for 7 encoders, including OGGEnc2 (bundled), LAME, FLAC, WavPack,
  • Musepack, iTunesEncode, Nero AAC and Helix MP3.
